Joburg Ombudsman Office finally on track
Jo’burg is finally setting up the long-awaited Ombudsman's Office, and there's now a rush to provide for it in the city's budget. The Office of the Ombudsman is expected to be operational from September 1, after which the office may start receiving complaints from the public. The ombudsman will deal with complaints of maladministration against the city, excluding matters going to court. The ombudsman will be an independent office 'whose primary function is to be a neutral facilitator who provides confidential and impartial assistance in resolving grievances and disputes', says the by-law.
